Pullman tamper bases are made from top-quality Australian-sourced 304 grade stainless steel, and provide a higher quality finish than that typically provided by other tamper manufacturers, particularly those whose parts are made from cheaper steel as often used in developing countries.
When dosing coffee into a filter basket, you will normally get a small pile of ground coffee in the centre of the filter basket. Some users feel convex bases assist in dispersing this heaped coffee to the lower edges of the basket, resulting in a more even distribution. Pullman convex bases employ a U.S. (mild) curve rather than the more aggressive Euro curve.
Important Notes
- Tamper handles and tamper bases are sold separately. While they can be purchased separately if necessary, you require both a base and a handle for a complete tamper.
- Bases and handles from the Nexus and Barista range are not interchangeable. If you are purchasing a Deluxe base you must also purchase a Deluxe handle for a complete Deluxe tamper. See the range of Deluxe handles available for purchase.
What Size?
One difference about your new Pullman tamper is that its base is a precision-machined instrument made to 50 micron (0.05mm) tolerances to ensure you get exactly the right size tamper base required for your machine. There are many different sizes of filter baskets available, so the options below will help us provide the right size tamper for your machine.
